The railings and brass coverings of the new luxury centre in Venice “T Fondaco dei Tedeschi” have been supplied by Gonzato Contract from Vicenza that realized them on design of the archistar Rem Koolhaas.

The supply included the realization of railings for the terrace with a panoramic view, for the openings on sliding scale shaft and for the inner stairs that have been adorned with particular coverings. A total of 20 tons of brass has been used for the production of the semifinished articles designed by Architect Rem Koolhaas. The used metal is both raw and with selective oxidation in 15 shades.
A part of the 260 total metres has been realized using vertical plain bars with variable sections and with special mechanical fixing system, through hidden pins, that spared the use of weldings assuring, meanwhile, the greatest structural strength. Inside the handrail of the inner stairs has been connected a led lighting system that is nowadays the best expression of architectural functionl character at energy conservation . For the side and lower coverings of the main staircase has been realized a steel structure that supports the sheets of brass. In order to assure the continuity of the metal covering for all the staircase different structures, each paneling has been one by one planed such the hidden fixing systems. To avoid the galvanic corrosion effect , the contact points between the steel structure and the brass panels have been suitably insulated.
The design of all the metal elements has been executed by the experts of Gonzato Contract, division of Ind.i.a. spa (Malo-Vicenza) dedicated to the big works while the production has been entrusted to the craftsmen of Arteferro, an other division of the company dedicated to the production of ornamental semifinished articles.
